Candidate Privacy Notice
If Laidback has identified you as a potential fit for a role, or a hiring manager has written to you through it, this explains what we know about you, where it came from, and what you can do about it.
Last updated: November 2026
1. Who we are
Laidback Inc. ("Laidback", "we", "us") is a Delaware company. We build an AI recruiter for hiring managers. This notice explains how we handle your information when a hiring manager uses Laidback to find candidates and write to them.
2. What data we hold about you
- Name and professional headline
- Work experience (job titles, companies, dates, descriptions)
- Education (schools, degrees, fields of study)
- Skills and endorsements
- Location (city, country)
- Public profile photo
- Public professional summary
- Professional contact details, such as a work email, from the data providers we license from
- The messages you exchange with the hiring manager through their connected LinkedIn or email
We do not process anything you have marked private on the source platform.
3. Where the data comes from
Your information comes from LinkedIn and other professional data providers we license from, and from your own replies. Your profile information is what you have made publicly available on professional networking platforms.
4. Why we process it
We rely on legitimate interest to help our customers identify people who may fit a role they're hiring for. Specifically, we use your data to:
- Match your profile to open roles
- Give the hiring team a short, factual summary of your background
- Write to you about the opportunity from the hiring manager's own account
- Ask you what the hiring manager needs to know, and pass on your answers
We think this is proportionate because we use information you've published for professional purposes, and being contacted about relevant work opportunities is generally in your interest.
5. Automated processing and AI
Laidback uses AI to compare your profile to a role's requirements, generate a match score, write a short assessment for the hiring team, and write messages to you. Important:
- A human on the hiring team decides whether you are shortlisted or hired.
- No automated decision determines the outcome of your candidacy.
- Messages to you come from the hiring manager's own account and follow an approach that hiring manager approved. AI may have written them.
- You can request a human review of any automated assessment about you.
6. Who sees your data
Your profile is only visible inside the workspace of the hiring team that is actively sourcing for a role you match. Workspaces are isolated. Your data is not shared across our customers, and it is not used to train shared AI models used by other customers.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information for up to 24 months from the last time it was actively used for a sourcing task. After that, we delete it unless there's an ongoing legitimate purpose (for example, an active conversation between you and a hiring team).
8. Your rights
You can:
- Access: get a copy of what we hold about you.
- Correct: ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
- Delete: ask us to remove you from our system.
- Object: object to our processing of your data.
- Contest automated assessments: ask a human to review.
To exercise any of these, email thomas@laidback.so. We'll respond within 30 days. If a hiring manager has already contacted you, you can also reply and ask to opt out of future outreach.
9. How to opt out
Email thomas@laidback.so with the subject "Opt out" and a link to the public profile you want removed. We'll suppress your profile across our system within 30 days and add it to our do-not-source list.
10. Related policies
For how we handle workspace and account data, see our Privacy Policy.
11. Contact and complaints
