Terms of Service
These terms cover how you and your team use Laidback, the AI recruiter for hiring managers. Plain language where we can, precise where we have to be.
Last updated: November 2026
1. Agreement to these terms
By accessing or using Laidback's websites, app and services (including hire.laidback.so and any connected Slack or Microsoft Teams integration) ("Services"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use the Services.
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Laidback Inc. ("Laidback", "we", "us"). If you're accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you have the authority to bind that company.
2. Who can use Laidback
You need to be at least 18 and legally able to enter into a contract. Laidback is built for hiring managers and in-house hiring teams. Using it as an outbound recruiting agency to source candidates for third-party clients requires our written consent.
3. Your workspace and account
When you set up a workspace with Laidback, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information about your company and your role
- Keep the credentials of your connected accounts secure
- Take responsibility for everything your teammates do inside your workspace
- Tell us at thomas@laidback.so if you spot unauthorized access
4. What Laidback does
Laidback is an AI recruiter that works with you in Slack, Microsoft Teams or its own app. Depending on what you enable, this may include:
- Turning your briefing into a map of the market and a list of matched candidates
- Writing to candidates from your own LinkedIn and email, and following up
- Asking candidates what you need to know about them
- Reporting on your funnel and taking in your feedback and other context
Candidate data comes from professional data providers and publicly available sources. We can change, add to or retire features. When a change materially affects paying customers we'll give reasonable notice.
5. Your approval and your accounts
You approve the approach before the first message goes out. Laidback then writes to candidates from your accounts, on your behalf, within that approach. You can change or stop it at any time. Messages sent this way are yours, and you are responsible for the approach you approve. You make every hiring decision.
6. Fees and payment
Unless we agree otherwise in writing:
- Daily fee. $25 a day per role while sourcing, billed monthly in advance. Each month is paid up front and isn't refundable: if you stop partway through, nothing further is charged and nothing comes back.
- Success fee. 10% of the first-year base salary, due when the hire starts. It applies when someone Laidback introduced to you, including in a free preview, is hired by your company within 12 months of the introduction.
- Credit. The daily fees you paid for a role count toward its success fee, so you only pay the difference. If they already cover it, there's nothing more to pay.
- No other refund. Daily fees are otherwise non-refundable and non-transferable, including when you fill the role with someone Laidback did not introduce.
We can change pricing with reasonable notice for existing paying workspaces. Free trials, pilots and demo access can be capped or ended at our discretion. All payments are final except where the law requires otherwise.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Laidback to:
- Break the law or run hiring practices that discriminate on protected characteristics
- Post fake or misleading roles, or misrepresent your company
- Harass, harm or spam candidates, teammates or other users
- Send bulk outbound outside the approved approach, or route around message caps
- Reverse engineer, scrape or resell the Services
- Impersonate anyone, or write from an account that is not yours to use
- Feed Laidback confidential information you don't have rights to share
You're responsible for making sure your use of Laidback follows the employment, labor, privacy and messaging laws in the places you and your candidates are based.
8. Accounts and tools you connect
You choose what to connect (LinkedIn, email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, GitHub, Jira, meeting recordings, your ATS and others). Your use of each connected tool is governed by that tool's own terms, including LinkedIn's. We're not responsible for what those tools do, their uptime, the action they take on your account, or changes they make to their APIs.
9. Your data, our role
You own the content you put into Laidback (briefings, notes, uploaded files, connected records). You grant us a limited licence to process that content so we can run the Services for you and improve them for your workspace.
Your workspace data is not used to train shared models across other customers. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
10. AI output
Laidback uses AI to write messages, summaries, shortlists and scores. AI output can be wrong. You should:
- Review candidate information before you make hiring decisions
- Read the approach before you approve it
- Treat scores, matches and summaries as input to your judgment, not a replacement
11. Intellectual property
The Services, the interface, the underlying models, workflows and documentation are owned by Laidback and protected by IP law. You keep ownership of your inputs and, subject to these Terms and applicable law, of the outputs we generate for you.
12. Confidentiality
Each side agrees to protect the other's non-public information (including candidate lists, briefings, pricing and product roadmap) with the same care it uses for its own, and at least reasonable care.
13. Warranties and disclaimers
We provide the Services with reasonable care and skill. Except for what's explicitly stated here, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee that a specific candidate will respond, be hired, or be a good fit.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Laidback isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data or missed hires.
Our total liability for any claim connected to these Terms or the Services is capped at the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
15. Indemnification
You'll defend and indemnify Laidback against third-party claims arising from your use of the Services, your breach of these Terms, the approach you approve, or content you upload that infringes third-party rights.
16. Suspension and termination
We can suspend a workspace immediately if it puts candidates, teammates or the Services at serious risk, or violates these Terms. For termination without cause we'll give 30 days' notice.
When your workspace ends:
- Access to the Services stops
- If we end the workspace without cause, unused prepaid fees are refunded pro-rata
- If you end it, or we end it for cause, unused prepaid fees are forfeited
- The success fee still applies to anyone Laidback introduced before it ended, for 12 months from the introduction
- We delete workspace data according to our Privacy Policy retention schedule
You can end your workspace at any time by writing to thomas@laidback.so.
17. Dispute resolution
Any dispute connected to these Terms or the Services is resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, seated in Delaware, USA. Either side can still bring a qualifying claim in small claims court. You waive the right to bring or take part in a class action or class-wide arbitration against Laidback.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material we'll update the "Last updated" date and email the admin of your workspace. Continuing to use Laidback after the change means you accept the new Terms.
20. The usual legal wrap-up
If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest keeps working. Not enforcing a right once isn't a waiver of it. You can't assign these Terms without our written consent. We can assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any order form we sign, are the entire agreement between us about the Services.
